Four Metal Cladding Systems projects in 2017’s Victorian Architecture Awards

It’s that time of year again – award season!

 

The 2017’s Victorian Architecture Awards shortlist has been announced. From 223 entries, 102 projects made the list, across 14 categories. Winners will be awarded on Friday, 30 June, 2017 and from 23 May, through to 4 June, an entrant exhibition can be viewed at No Vacancy Gallery at QV, Melbourne CBD.

The annual program … showcases the role of architects in delivering ‘Places for People’, ensuring livability, making a positive contribution to the built environment and designing for the long term … Across all shortlisted projects, the emphasis on client and community focused architecture is evident, proving good architecture and design has the power to transform and revive communities … ” Source: AIA

Reading through the nominations, we were delighted to see so many projects featuring our metal roof and wall cladding. We would like to congratulate the following firms on their concepts and design execution. The Leaf House by Damian Rogers Architecture | Residential Architecture, Houses (alterations & additions)

The Leaf House features our Standing Seam and Flatlock systems, in Weathering Steel by BlueScope Steel®. Damian Rogers Architecture masterfully connects inside to out through the application of our metal panels. The exterior angles on this project are captivating and the interior design is fresh, contemporary and personal.

Albert Park College Environmental Hub by Six Degrees Architects | Heritage Architecture and Educational Architecture

Albert Park College features our Interlocking system in Architectural Metals Australia’s Vestis Black Graphite pre-coated aluminium. The black clad elevator shaft offers contrast to the school’s heritage listed existing structure.

QT Melbourne by Candalepas Associates | Commercial Architecture

There’s something to be said for making an entrance, just look at QT Melbourne. The main entry to this impressive boutique apartment, hotel and foodie development, features our Standing Seam system in natural copper. QT pride themselves on luxury hospitality and bold design commitments. We’re proud to have assisted in the creation of Melbourne’s newest glamour hub.

Shadow House by Matt Gibson Architecture + Design, Mim Design | Interior Architecture

We are thrilled to see Shadow House shortlisted in the Interior Architecture category this year. Much like The Leaf House, Shadow House features our metal cladding inside and out. Our Standing Seam and Flatlock systems, in VMZINC Anthra, can be seen throughout the home. The black panels create continuity and connection between internal and external architectural design.
