Titanium zinc

Titanium zinc is made by adding copper and titanium to natural zinc. This popular material has been used to create some of Australia’s most iconic metal facades.

Titanium zinc is a non-ferrous metal. This means there are no traces of iron in the alloy and the material won’t rust with age. Zinc’s long lifespan, and surface depth, offers homeowners, architects and builders, peace of mind when it comes to product longevity. While titanium zinc is durable, like all surface finishes its performance is dependant on regular and thorough facade cleaning (maintenance schedules can be recommended by material suppliers).

Black and grey are popular titanium zinc colours, however more and more we see coloured zinc ranges attracting attention and gaining popularity. elZinc, Rheinzink, VMZINC and zintek®, all offer coloured collections. Speak with our product experts to learn more.

Titanium zinc is a natural product, it responds to its environment. Even though zinc has an impressive lifespan, it doesn’t always mean it’s the most suitable material for harsh atmospheric applications. Marine and industrial areas can cause zinc to discolour, sweat, and in extreme conditions the surface can chalk, leaving a white powder across installed panels. Always discuss material care with material suppliers and system manufacturers.
